The DMC & IDC: What You’ll Learn and Do

At Scuba Junkie Mabul, we offer both the Divemaster Course (DMC) and the Instructor Development Course (IDC). Here’s what your Dive Pro Journey include:

🏝️ The Divemaster Course (DMC)

• Duration: 4–8 weeks depending on your schedule
• Includes skill refreshers, assisting real courses, learning to guide, and practicing underwater problem-solving
• Daily dive center life: gear prep, briefings, dive guiding, boat handling, and supporting students
• Community-focused: you’ll become part of the Scuba Junkie family from day one

🎓 The Instructor Development Course (IDC)

• Duration: 11-day prep + 2-day Instructor Exam
• Taught by our award-winning Course Director Thien X. Do, with decades of experience
• Includes workshops on teaching theory, confined/open water demos, classroom presentations, standards & safety
• Small class sizes (4–10 candidates max) to ensure individual coaching
• Final 2-day PADI Instructor Exam facilitated by PADI examiners on-site

What Do You Need to Start?

Here’s what you’ll need for each step of the dive pro journey:

For DMC:

• Minimum: PADI Rescue Diver certification
• 40+ logged dives to start (60 needed to certify)
• Valid dive medical
• Passion for the ocean, people, and personal growth

For IDC:

• Divemaster certified (from any recognized agency)
• Minimum 60 logged dives (100 before IE)
• EFR (First Aid) course within 24 months
• Dive medical signed by a physician

Duration, Cost & Inclusions in your Dive Pro Journey

🏝️ Divemaster Internship

• Price: Our 4 week DM packages start at RM 8,250 inclusive of 28 night full-board Dormitory accommodation. Click here to view our full range of packages.
• Duration: Flexible 4 weeks – If you wish to stay longer and get more experience of what it’s like working as a PADI Divemaster, consider booking our DM Internship!
• Includes: shared accommodation, all diving, equipment rental, workshops, and mentorship

🎓 Instructor Development Course (IDC)

• Price: Our IDC packages start at RM 9,750. View our full range of packages including internships here. 
• Not included in the IDC rate are the fees you pay directly to PADI, for 2025 the rates are:
  • Instructor Examination: AUD1,190
  • Instructor Application Processing Fee: AUD350 (Payment via PADI IE online registration)
  • Emergency First Response Instructor Application Fee: AUD242
  • Specialty Instructor Rating: AUD139 per rating (Upon course completion, payment via course applications)
• Duration: 11-day prep + 2-day IE
• Includes: full prep, mock exams, dive site access, and mentorship
